Needless to say, I am stoked like a winter fire to see this movie.  I’m thinking it might possibly be this year’s Inception.  Plus, a little JGL/Brucey action isn’t half bad anyway!  The Courthead and I are gonna be watching the crud out of this this weekend.

Moonrise Kingdom | Touted As Best Movie of 2012?  We’ll See…
The second movie that I ended up seeing was Moonrise Kingdom.  I was a little bit skeptical going into this seeing the tag lines, “Best Movie of 2012” and “OMG.  You have to go see this!”  But I do have to say that I was pleasantly surprised.
My quickie review is that it was amazing.  Maybe not the best movie of 2012 but certainly in the top three.  I’d pay full price tickets more than once, I’ll say that much for it.
Quite possibly the thing that made this movie stand out from all of the rest released this year was the cinematography.  Warm yellowed tones, large panoramic like images, smooth side scrolling scenes.  Everything looked amazing!  And the aged look was a nice touch that constantly reminded me that this was set in the 60’s.
The cast was literally all star.  Bill Murray, Bruce Willis, Ed Norton, Tilda Swinton.  Seriously, Edward Norton has to be the most likable guy to ever get borned. And all of the children were great!  They all delivered the lines in a way that made me forget who they were.  Especially Bruce Willis.  Even if this movie was way out of the way from his usual repertoire he played his part with a class of eliticism.
I honestly can’t think of one scene that didn’t have me smiling.  Every bit of this was memorable.  The plot was complex and focused.  And it reminded me of adventure tales like Huck Finn.  It was truly endearing.  A story of young love with freaking fantastical exploration!
It is hard for me to pick anything out of this that was bad.  I mean really.  I can’t at the moment.  I’ll probably need a second showing, but it was great.  Full price theater ticket all the way.  And while it may be a little bit difficult to find this movie playing anywhere it’s worth the road trip.  I’m not gonna say greatest movie of 2012 but I am gonna say that it was every bit as good as The Avengers without the franchise icing.  If you’re looking for something in the vein of the Royal Tenenbaums this is really gonna draw your attention.
